Hot on the heels of its announcement of a T-Mobile LTE-compatible version of the Studio 5.0, BLU Products today took the wraps off of its newest flagship smartphone.

Dubbed the Life Pure XL, this Android 4.2-powered handset will be available from Amazon starting tomorrow, May 2. Pricing will be set at $399 for the L260 model with 32GB of storage and 3GB of RAM. Meanwhile, the L259 version will launch on May 9 with 16GB of storage, 2GB of RAM and a $349 price tag.

In exchange for your hard-earned dollars, you’ll be getting a device with a 5.5-inch 1080p display and 8-megapixel front-facing camera, as well as a 16-megapixel rear shooter with a 1/2.3-inch sensor and Largan M8 lens. Inside of the Life Pure XL’s 9.5mm-thick frame is a 2.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 2G 800/900/1800/1900MHz and 3G (HSPA+ 42Mbps) 850/1900/2100MHz connectivity, NFC, FM radio and a non-removable 2500mAh battery.

As I mentioned before, the Life Pure XL comes preloaded with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean that looks to be running beneath a custom user interface. BLU says that the Life Pure XL is upgradeable to Android 4.4 KitKat.

Overall the Life Pure XL looks like a respectable Android handset. Its lack of LTE connectivity is a bit of a bummer, but with a 5.5-inch 1080p display, the device could be worth a consideration for someone on the hunt for an affordable Android phablet.
