If you’ve been holding onto a 60W charger waiting for Samsung to finally bump up charging speeds, the Galaxy S27 Ultra might disappoint you on paper and still end up charging faster in your hand. That’s the surprisingly practical story behind the newest leak.
Same Wattage, Smarter Delivery

According to Android Authority, leaker WalleGalaxy claims the Galaxy S27 Ultra will keep the same 60W charging rating as the Galaxy S26 Ultra rather than raising it.
The twist is in how that power gets delivered. Samsung is reportedly working on optimizations that let the phone sustain higher power levels, around 55W to 56W, for longer during the early stages of a charge, rather than tapering off sooner the way the S26 Ultra does.
The leaker estimates this could make the S27 Ultra charge about 2% to 3% faster, despite carrying a larger battery.
It’s a modest number on its own, but it means you won’t need to buy a new, higher-wattage charger or cable to see the benefit. Your existing 60W Samsung charger should do the job.
Why This Actually Matters More Than It Sounds
Samsung is also rumored to be increasing the S27 Ultra’s battery to around 5,700mAh, up from the S26 Ultra’s 5,000mAh cell, according to Phone Arena.
Normally, a bigger battery at the same wattage means a longer charge time, not a shorter one. If Samsung really has found a way to hold higher power output for longer, it’s effectively offsetting that math, giving you more battery capacity without the usual charging-time penalty.
For context, the current S26 Ultra’s 60W Super Fast Charging 3.0 can reach about 75% in 30 minutes, per Samsung’s own claims. Whether the S27 Ultra can meaningfully beat that number in real-world testing, not just on a spec sheet, remains to be seen.
What’s Still Unconfirmed
It’s not yet clear whether this optimized charging curve will be exclusive to the Ultra model or extend to the rest of the Galaxy S27 lineup.
Pricing also remains under wraps, and recent Galaxy price hikes are likely to cast a shadow. Samsung is expected to officially unveil the series in early 2027, so more concrete details should surface as that date approaches.
