If you’ve ever watched a streetlight turn into a blown-out white blob in a Galaxy Ultra night shot, or zoomed in on a distant subject only to see the software visibly labor, the latest S27 Ultra leaks should catch your attention.
Warmer, Cleaner Photos Are Coming
According to Android Authority, veteran tipster Ice Universe claims the S27 Ultra produces noticeably warmer photos than the Galaxy S26 Ultra, a shift away from Samsung’s traditionally cooler color tuning.
Highlight control has reportedly improved too, particularly for small bright objects like illuminated signs or distant lights, details the S26 Ultra tends to blow out.
That improvement extends to both the main and telephoto cameras, alongside less visible noise in shadows for cleaner night shots.
The suspected reason is a new 200MP ISOCELL HP6 main sensor, a Galaxy-specific version of Samsung’s ISOCELL HPC.
It uses Samsung’s DeepPix pixel architecture, which expands light capacity to boost dynamic range and reduce image noise.
In plain terms, it keeps bright skies clear without turning dark foregrounds pitch black, or balances a face against a sunset instead of silhouetting it.
The Trade-Off Zoom Fans Won’t Love
Ice Universe also claims Samsung is dropping the dedicated 3x telephoto camera entirely, leaving the S27 Ultra to jump straight from its 1x main lens to a 50MP 5x telephoto, reportedly keeping an f/2.9 aperture.
Anyone relying on that middle zoom range for portraits or everyday framing on their Android device would lose a dedicated optical lens for it, leaning on software cropping instead.
Even the Camera Layout Is Still a Mystery
Adding to the uncertainty, GSMArena reports conflicting details about where components sit inside the redesigned camera island, expected to stretch nearly the full width of the back like an iPhone-style raised block.
OnLeaks places the telephoto on the right with a microphone beneath it; Ice Universe disputes that, arguing it actually sits at the bottom with the flash above. What both leakers agree on: there’s only one telephoto camera this time, not two.
What This Means If You’re Upgrading
None of this is official yet, and Samsung hasn’t confirmed the HP6 sensor, the missing 3x lens, or the exact layout.
But if the pattern holds, S27 Ultra buyers may be trading one zoom option for genuinely better everyday image quality, a trade worth watching closely if optical zoom is a dealbreaker for you.
