Being first in line for a new Pixel usually means being first in line for new software too.
Last week, that wasn’t the case. When Google shipped Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6, Pixel 11 owners were the one group left out entirely. Today, that gets fixed.
What Actually Happened
Beta 6 landed last Thursday for Pixel 6a through Pixel 10 devices, conspicuously skipping every Pixel 11 model.
Google’s Mishaal Rahman addressed the gap on Reddit, explaining Pixel 11 builds were in progress and would follow. A few days later, they have.
Google has now released Android 17 QPR2 Beta 6.1, confirmed by 9to5Google, closing that gap for good.
Two separate builds are rolling out: CP41.260831.011 for the Pixel 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro XL, and 11 Pro Fold, and CP41.260831.007.A3 for every other eligible device, from the Pixel 6a up through the Pixel 10 series.
The One Thing to Watch For
Google hasn’t published a list of bug fixes for this release, but it did flag one known issue worth knowing about before you update: Pixel 11 Pro Fold owners may need to re-enroll Face Unlock for it to work properly after installing Beta 6.1, as 9to5 Google noted.
It’s a minor inconvenience, but one that’s easy to be caught off guard by if you’re not expecting it.
Why This Matters Beyond the Bug Fix
This isn’t just a footnote update. It’s a reminder that being an early adopter on Google’s newest hardware occasionally means being first in line for delays too, not just features.
Software delays are a known hurdle when a beta program has to catch up to brand-new silicon, the Tensor G6, and camera systems, but a multi-day gap on flagship-level phones is still a rough look for anyone who bought in on day one expecting full beta parity.
Should You Update?
If you’re running the Pixel 11 series and have been sitting out the beta program waiting for full support, this is the moment to join.
Everyone else already on Beta 6 can grab 6.1 as a routine update. As always, back up your device before installing, and register through Google’s Android Beta program if you haven’t already.
