If you’ve been testing Android 17 QPR2 on a Pixel phone and dealing with random crashes or a frozen screensaver, Beta 6 is worth grabbing right now.
Google has pushed out the update just over a week after Beta 5, continuing an unusually tight release cadence, according to Android Authority.
The Bugs That Actually Get Fixed
This build isn’t about flashy new features; it’s a cleanup pass, and a meaningful one. As Android Authority notes, citing Google, Beta 6 addresses several key stability and visual bugs:
- Biometric verification crash: Patches a severe kernel crash triggered when third-party apps requested permissions for camera and microphone simultaneously.
- Pixel 9 Pro Fold reboot: Fixes an issue causing foldables to restart unexpectedly when apps initialized the camera viewfinder.
- Scrolling hangs: Resolves system-level crashes and freezing during UI scrolling.
- Recents screen lockup: Fixes a bug that prevented users from swiping away locked apps from the Recents menu.
- Status bar bleed: Corrects a visual glitch where letterboxed content showed through the status bar during app transitions.
- Blank charging screen: Fixes a screensaver error that displayed a blank screen while charging.
The Twist: Pixel 11 Users Are Waiting Again
Here’s the part that stings a little.
Beta 5 was the first QPR2 release to actually support the new Pixel 11 lineup, so testers on Google’s newest phone finally got to join in.
Beta 6 quietly walks that back, topping out at the Pixel 10 series with no Pixel 11 build in sight. Google’s Mishaal Rahman addressed the gap directly on Reddit, saying builds for the Pixel 11 are “coming, stay tuned.”
Separately, Android Police flags that the update isn’t purely additive; alongside the bug fixes, a small number of features that had shown up in earlier QPR2 betas appear to have been quietly dialed back or removed in this build

Which Phones are Eligible and Should You Install It?
For Pixel 6a through Pixel 10 owners already on the beta track, Beta 6 (build CP41.260831.007) is a straightforward improvement worth updating to now.
If you’re on a Pixel 11 and hoping to join the beta program, it makes sense to hold off until that build actually appears.
